Wizkid in Uganda Jail
See gobe, omoh see gobe eh *singing* Is Wizkid in Uganda jail for skipping show? The story out there now is that Wizkid is wanted in Uganda jail for skipping show. This is serious as there is no idea how he is going to get out of this one.
Wizkid is wanted for not showing up for their concert scheduled to take place on Saturday, 3rd December 2016 at Lugogo Cricket Oval in Kampala after being paid and incurring extra costs.
See me see wahala ooo, can’t someone cancel his show again? I mean, we make plans but sometimes they have to get cancelled due to circumstances beyond our control. Truth is, one could fall ill, break a leg, hit face on the wall or loose a finger, lol. It depends on how the thing do you.
Tell me, can one be tried in absence? It’s not like he was summoned and he refused to show up, I think the organizers are taking things too far, except there is more than we know.
Our talented Wizkid is accused of obtaining money by false pretense, cheating and conspiracy to defraud. According to them, the offences will carry a maximum jail sentence of up to 11 years.
Performance Fee
There is a claim that Face TV paid a total performance fee of Sh6 million ($60, 000), a brokerage fee of Sh500, 000 ($5,000) and Sh300, 000 ($3, 000) as per diem for the days they were to spend in Uganda to Wiz Kid’s manager Sunday Are.
Another problem is the extra cost incurred by the organizers in booking and rebooking of flights, hotel, venue, advertisements and promotions for the concert to over Sh30 million ($300, 000).
Too bad, over 25, 000 people had already bought tickets for the concert.
Now, instead of trying to arrest wizkid, as order has been given that any Uganda police officer can arrest Wizkid and produce him in court come January 16th 2017, why don’t they ask for a refund. Wizkid can’t and shouldn’t keep money for a show he didn’t attend. Abi, is he refusing to return their money? That will be too bad and criminal. If truly he couldn’t go for genuine reasons, he should make refunds. It will make them feel a little better and drop the case.
