SONY Music Goes Hard On Nigerian Sites Over Wizkid and Drake’s Leaked Song

WIZKID AND DRAKE:

Sony Music is still trying to work out how Wizkid new song with popular American rapper, Drake titled, ‘Hush Up The Silence’, got leaked.
While it is still unclear if someone from the stable of Wizkid or from Drake’s end was responsible but one thing his sure, the Starboy chief new management is not happy about the development and have already taken steps to pull down the song from all platforms in the country and abroad.

THE SONG

The song which got leaked a few days ago on major Nigerian sites is an incomplete version and Sony Music has been making efforts to stop the circulation of the leaked music.
Websites and blogs amongst other music channels that uploaded the song, were contacted by the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry to take down the songs from their platform or they face the consequences .
The IFPI is a trade association of record companies in the US (of which SONY Music is a part of).

THE MAIL

The mail reads in part:

‘We have learned that your service is making available, distributing and/or referring/linking users to infringing copies of the following sound recordings, the copyrights in which are exclusively owned or controlled by one or more IFPI Represented Companies. We are asking for your immediate assistance in stopping this unauthorised activity.’
Although they can’t ensure a total wipe out of the leaked version from all platforms, it will at least tone it down by a huge percentage.
