The ex-president’s decision to create his own platform comes after he was banned from Twitter and Facebook
Former President of the United States of America Donald Trump has disclosed that he is set to launch his own social media network called Truth Social.
Trump claims that the platform aims to “stand up to the tyranny of big tech” after accusing them of suppressing the voice of opposition in the United States.
Even though social media played a vital role in the election of Trump as president for the first term, he was banned from both Twitter and Facebook when his supporters stormed the US Capitol.
The businessman was accused of using the platforms to incite violence and charging his supporters to riot when he failed in his bid to become president for the second term.
Throughout Trump’s tenure, social media companies were pushed to suspend his account after many claimed that he posted insulting or misleading information.
The decision to ban him on several platforms was eventually carried out in January after the riot at the US Capitol.
According to a statement by Trump Media & Technology(TMTG), an early version of Donald Trump’s Truth Social will be available to invited guests next month before it rolls out nationwide in early 2022.
In addition, TMTG is working towards launching a subscription video-on-demand service that will feature ‘non-woke’ entertainment programs and podcasts.
