Jeff Bezos Slammed After Making Controversial Statement
Amazon founder Jeff Bezos became the second billionaire to travel to space in as many weeks
Since returning from his 11-minute cloud9 journey, the billionaire has already received criticism from many, including US Senator Elizabeth Warren
During an interview about his space experience, Bezos was quoted saying thank you to Amazon workers and customers who “paid for” his million-dollar trip
It’s barely 24 hours after Jeff Bezos’ trip to space and he has already found a way to trigger many to attack him.
During an interview about his extraordinary space experience, the billionaire thanked Amazon employees and customers for funding.
“I want to thank every Amazon employee and every Amazon customer because you guys paid for all of this,”
Bezos said during the conference after the space trip.
That statement didn’t sit right with many on social media, including US Senator Elizabeth Warren.
Warren stated that the Amazon founder failed to thank others in the country who actually paid taxes since Amazon failed to do so.
Warren’s criticism is based on a verified report that revealed that America’s rich executives have used various legal methods to pay low taxes or avoid paying them altogether.
The investigation revealed that the Amazon boss who recently stepped down paid only 0.98% of income as tax between 2014 and 2018.
This was extremely low in comparison to average Americans with an income of $70,000 who paid 14% in taxes.
Also Amazon employees have taken to Twitter to slam their boss. A user claimed that the billionaire prioritized going to space above the life of his employees.
“My first tweet as an Amazon employee – I’m so angry that my boss thinks going into space is more important than the people who got him there. Jeff Bezos lives on another planet and his greed is literally out of this world.”
Meanwhile, Bezos is the second billionaire to travel to space in less than 2 weeks after Galactic founder Richard Branson went on a similar journey earlier this month.
Jeff Bezos embarked on the journey alongside his brother Mark, Wally Funk and high school graduate Oliver Daemen.
