The founder of microblogging platform, Twitter, Jack Dorsey has appointed a team of three Nigerians and one South African to act as the board of his Bitcoin Trust (BTrust) find.
In February, the ex Twitter CEO announced that the Trust fund aimed at development in Africa and India will be launched in collaboration with American rapper, Shawn “Jay Z” Carter.
The trust fund, BTrust has a capital base of 500 BTC and will be managed by the four Africans without supervision from Jack Dorsey or Jay Z.
While announcing the launch of the trust fund, Dorsey disclosed the names of the board members who are- Abubakar Nur Khalil, Obi Nwosu, Ojoma Ochai from Nigeria, and Carla Kirk-Cohen from South Africa.
The 4 members were selected out of a pool of 7,000 applicants who applied to be on the board.
Obi Nwosu is the Co-founder of Coinfloor, a seed-level cryptocurrency startup that recently raised $300,000 in funding.
Ojoma Ochai is the Managing Partner at CcHUBCreative, a technology innovation environment that is accelerating the growth of startups in Africa.
Abubakar Nur Khalil is a bitcoin core contributor who received $50,000 worth of Bitcoin in May for his work on Bitcoin wallet software.

Finally, Carla Kirk-Cohen is a software engineer at Lightning Labs. She had previously served on the crypto-ops team of Luno crypto exchange.
While the BTrust fund will be disbursed both in India and Africa, how it will function in Nigeria remains a mystery due to the CBN’s ban on crypto.
