Twitter co-founder and Block CEO Jack Dorsey both partnered to launch the “Bitcoin Academy,” an educational initiative advocating for the democratic vision that “education is power.”
The educational program is readily available for residents of the Marcy Project public housing complex in New York City.
The program is a 12-week free educational course that will run from June 22 till September 7. with options for both online and in-person attendance.
The program is designed in a manner that will improve access to financial information and promote inclusive opportunities.
Instructors for the course are Lamar Wilson of the Black Bitcoin Billionaire and Najah J. Roberts of the Crypto Blockchain Plug.
Children between the ages of 5 -17 years are advised to join the “Crypto Kids Camp” on two of the Saturday events, adult attendees on the other hand will receive a portable WiFi hotspot device, a one-year limited data plan, and a smartphone if required.

Explaining why the initiative is of uttermost importance via a tweet on his Twitter account, Jack Dorsey wrote;
“bitcoin is becoming a critical tool for many in Africa and Central and South America. We believe the same potential exists within communities in the US. Our goal is to prove that making powerful tools more available to people enables them to build greater independence.”
Jack Dorsey and Jay-Z are both longtime partners and Bitcoin enthusiasts. Aside from working together on TIDAL which Jay-Z later sold to Jack, they have both launched a 500 BTC investment last year with a focus on increasing the popularity of cryptocurrencies in India and Africa.
