Nigeria is at Risk of COVID 19 Third Wave- NCDC Boss

Just a few days after the Governor of Lagos state Babajide Sanwo-Olu warned about an impending COVID 19 third wave, Nigerian Centre for Disease Control, NCDC have added.

The Director-General of the Nigerian Centre for Disease Control, (NCDC) Dr Chikwe Ihekweazu has warned Nigerians that the country may be at risk of a surge in COVID-19 cases.

While speaking to Vanguard on Wednesday, Dr Ihekweazu warned that the emergence of the Delta variant in the country increased the risk of fast transmission.

The Director warned Nigerians urged Nigerians to adhere to protocols to ensure the safety of their loved ones and the economy.

Ihekweazu used other countries as examples while adding that the risk of a spread is even higher in Nigeria due to the presence of the Delta variant.

The NCDC boss revealed that there has been a slight increase in COVID-19 cases in Lagos.

This was confirmed after the Senate of the University of Lagos (UNILAG) shut down the school after some reported cases on the premises.

Finally, Dr Ihekweazu urged people to receive the COVID 19 vaccine because it offers protection against the virus.
