Research has shown the efficacy of the Pfizer vaccine against COVID 19 drops drastically after 6 months.
Results show that two doses of the vaccine are 90% effective against the vaccine for 6 months but after that, it drops to 47%.
The peer-reviewed analysis of the vaccine which was published in The Lancet also discovered that reduction in the effectiveness of the vaccine was due to time passing rather it being ineffective against the Delta variant.
During this research, scientists examined the health records of 3,426,957 people who had received the Pfizer-BioNTech jab.
They found that the efficacy of the COVID vaccine fell from 88% within one month of the second dose to 47% after six months. It however remained 90% effective against hospitalization.

The conclusion of the study is that COVID-19 infections in people who received the Pfizer vaccine is due to the waning of its efficacy rather than certain variants of the infection escaping vaccine protection.
The authors however acknowledged that their study could have some limitations including the inability to determine causal relationships between vaccination and COVID-19 outcomes.
